Lunar Eclipse - February 2008

Thanks to Ashley for telling me about this lunar eclipse. I was already in pajamas but I put some regular clothes back on and went outside with my 70-300mm lens and a tripod.

I focusing manually with live-view magnifying my view. I used 2-second delay to reduce the vibration in the tripod. I also shortened the tripod legs to increase the natural frequency of the whole system. I shot it in RAW and did noise reduction and post processing in Lightroom (Free trial). Surprisingly enough, the moon moves a lot in 20 seconds. I had to shorten the shutter speed to less than 2 seconds to get a good shot of the moon without motion blur.

I probably won't buy Lightroom. It's so slow (my computer's got a dual core Turion 64 and 1.6 GB of RAM, and if that's not enough, fuck Adobe). I've recently heard really good things about Aperture 2. Just have to buy my mac.
